We didn't just buy a campground as an investment; we bought our favorite place to be. After years of being seasonal campers here ourselves, the Burns family purchased Shady Rest in 2019 to preserve the experience we loved and improve it for the next generation.

From Campers to Owners
The Camper Years
Before becoming owners, Dane and Betsy Burns were seasonal members just like you. They spent weekends here falling in love with the river, the secluded geography, and the friendships that form around a campfire.
Taking the Helm
Dane and Betsy purchased the campground with a vision to keep the spirit of Shady Rest alive while tackling the hard work. They immediately began clearing overgrown areas, upgrading utilities, and addressing deferred maintenance.
Hands-On Operation
From dragging the gravel roads and cutting the grass to maintaining the private boat ramp, the family runs the show. It remains a place where campers become friends, and friends become family.
