Campground Rules
We want Shady Rest to be a safe, clean, and enjoyable place for everyone. Please be respectful of your neighbors, take care of your lot, and contact us anytime you have a question.
Around the Campground
Quiet Hours
Quiet hours are from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM. This includes loud music, barking dogs, powered equipment, and other excessive noise.
Speed Limit
The speed limit throughout the campground is 5 MPH. Please drive slowly and watch for children, pets, and other campers.
Trash
All trash must be placed in garbage bags before going into the dumpster. Please break down cardboard boxes.
Do not leave trash in fire rings or bring household trash into the campground for disposal.
Tires and refrigerators may not be placed in or next to the dumpster. A $50 removal fee will apply.
Electric Service
Please do not tamper with the campground electrical service. If you have an electrical problem or question, contact us and we will address it as quickly as possible.
Renters are responsible for the electrical connection from their camper to the campground outlet.
Lights and Appliances
Please turn off non-essential appliances, lights, and air conditioning when you are away from your campsite.
Bulbs used on light strings must be 25 watts or less. Excessively bright lighting on campers or docks is not permitted. Neon and beer signs are not permitted.
Water Use
Please do not use excessive amounts of water.
Your Lot
Mowing and Upkeep
Renters are responsible for mowing and trimming their lot at least once every two weeks during the camping season.
Lots that are not maintained will be charged a $25 mowing fee.
Please keep your lot clean and free of trash and debris.
Do not plant or remove trees without permission.
Building or Making Improvements
Please ask before making improvements to your lot.
Decks, awnings, docks, gravel, and other structures or improvements require approval before work begins.
Structures built on a rented lot will remain with the property when the rental license ends.
Vehicles and Storage
Golf carts, ATVs, dirt bikes, scooters, and similar powered vehicles are not permitted.
Non-functioning vehicles or watercraft may not be stored on campground lots.
Your camper, vehicles, and other belongings must remain within your own lot.
No Subleasing
Lots may not be subleased, and your agreement may not be transferred to someone else.
Guests
Guests Are Welcome
Guests may visit your lot while you are present at the campground.
Guests are not permitted to remain on your lot without the renter being present.
Renters are responsible for their guests. A guest who causes a disturbance may be asked to leave and may not be permitted to return.
Guests Bringing a Camper
If a guest brings a motorhome, pop-up camper, RV, or other camper onto your rented lot, the fee is $35 per night.
Advance notice is required. Payment is cash and must be made when the guest arrives. Some restrictions may apply.
Boat Ramp
Guests using the boat ramp must pay the $10 boat ramp fee in advance.
The renter is responsible for their guest's use of the boat ramp.
Pets
Two Pets Per Site
A maximum of two pets is permitted per campsite.
Pets must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet or properly tethered.
Please clean up after your pets and keep their vaccinations current.
Guests are not permitted to bring pets.
Season and Campground Access
2027 Camping Season
The 2027 camping season runs from May 1 through October 31.
Operating Days
The campground is open Thursday through Monday.
The campground is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays for mowing, maintenance, and other campground work. Limited access may be available with prior notice.
4th of July Week
For 2027, the campground will be open the full week of July 5 to 9, 2027.
Winter Storage
You may leave your camper on your lot during the winter at your own risk.
If a major flood is expected, we will work with you to get campers out beforehand.
High Water and Severe Weather
River conditions or severe weather may require the campground to temporarily close or evacuate.
If this happens, please follow campground staff instructions.
Refunds or credits are not provided for closures or evacuations caused by weather, flooding, or other conditions outside our control.
Safety and Conduct
Drugs
Drug use or possession is strictly prohibited. A violation is grounds for immediate removal.
Firearms and Similar Items
The use or display of firearms will not be tolerated.
This includes pellet guns, crossbows, slingshots, paint guns, and similar items.
Respect for Other Campers
Renters are responsible for the conduct of their family and guests and are expected to respect the rights of others using the campground.
Recreational Use Only
Shady Rest is licensed as a campground.
Campsites are for seasonal recreational use only and are not for full-time housing or primary residency.
Mail may not be delivered to your campsite.
If you need an exception regarding the amount of time you will be staying at the campground, please speak with us first.
Rule Violations
Most issues can be handled by talking with us and correcting the problem.
Rule violations may result in a verbal warning, written notice, suspension of guest privileges, or termination of your campground license.
Conduct involving drugs, weapons, violence, or reckless endangerment may result in immediate termination.
